Nancy Crow’s State of the College Address

The last time I stood with you in a tent at Reunion, in 2007, we came together not only to reminisce and catch up with old friends, but also to construct the Resolution that has inspired us and informed our actions over the past year since the University  boldly announced that it was suspending operations at Antioch College. The College Revival movement lived up to its name that night as we gathered under that tent, testifying to our Antioch experiences, to our beloved community, sharing stories that were so inspiring that we raised $400,000 in about two hours to support the uninterrupted continuation of the College we love and value so much. Your actions, ideas, fundraising, tenacity and passion are a constant inspiration, and I thank each and every one of you.

Ellen Borgersen’s State of the College Address, Plan B

The 2007 Reunion resolution called upon the Alumni Board to negotiate with the University for an independent College, and that’s been Plan A ever since.   Who knew? – here it is, still alive, a year later.

Letter from Ellen Borgersen in Yellow Springs News

To the Yellow Springs Community:

Did you know that the Antioch University Board of Trustees has never met with the Directors of the Antioch College Continuation Corporation about their proposal to acquire Antioch College?  It is shocking that the Trustees would contemplate a transaction of such enormous consequence without talking directly to the principals.  And yet, despite the AC3’s repeated requests to meet with them over months of negotiations, the Trustees instead rejected the AC3’s best and final offer to keep the College open without ever just sitting down and talking to them.

JOIN THE YSO PICKET OF THE UNIVERSITY’S MCGREGOR SCHOOL CAMPUS

Join us! 11AM to 1PM, Saturday, March 15, YSO residents and other local folks, students, faculty, union members and other staff, and alums will picket the University at its McGregor campus, 900 Dayton Street, in Yellow Springs. We will demand that the University Board of Trustees negotiate in good faith toward creating an independent, ongoing Antioch College.

A Letter to the Antioch Community from the ACCC

Dear fellow Antiochian,

As you’ve probably heard by now, some exciting developments took place over the break. The Antioch University Board of Trustees has agreed to explore the feasibility of granting full independence to Antioch College. If such a move is approved, the College will have its own board of trustees, one devoted exclusively to supporting the innovative approach to curriculum, co-op and community governance that makes Antioch such a vital and creative force in higher education. The goal that so many in the Antioch community have strived for is at last within sight .

Statement of Support from the New York City Antioch College Community

We, the New York City Antioch College Community, resolve that the College must remain open and become autonomous from the University. We stand behind the Alumni Board, faculty, staff, students of Antioch College and the Yellow Springs community in their efforts to achieve these goals. We will give these efforts our full moral and financial support, using all the resources at our disposal as citizens of the global capital of media, finance, law and the arts.

Fundraising Update

As of today, the Alumni Association has raised nearly $18 million in gifts and pledges from hundreds of donors eager to secure the future of Antioch College.

The elected Antioch College Alumni Association Board of Directors continue to negotiate with the University Board of Trustees to establish an autonomous Board of Trustees for Antioch College, and to protection of assets of Antioch College for sole use of Antioch College.
