San Francisco Bay Area chapter: not one, but TWO limbo parties on Saturday, September 20th: one in San Francisco at the home of Barrie Grenell ’61 and Peter Grenell ’65, RSVP; one in Oakland at the home of Jeff Mackler ’63, RSVP.

Cincinnati chapter: “150 Years of Antioch History in 60 Minutes” with Antiochiana’s very own Scott Sanders at the Know Theater of Cincinnati, Friday, September 12

Los Angeles Area chapter: Phone-a-thon on Friday, September 14, at the Center for Inquiry at 4773 Hollywood Blvd. RSVP to Stephanie Knol ’01.

Sonoma County Chapter: On Sunday Sept 21, 3:00 to 5:00 pm PST, we are planning to have a meeting of our Sonoma County  Chapter at Friends House where 6 of us Antioch alumni live.  The meeting will focus both on NON-STOP and on the vision for the future of the college.?Task Force member Lee Morgan will greet us via speaker phone at 4:00 pm, and answer questions about the rapidly evolving process of separating Antioch College from Antioch University.

The Chicago Chapter will hold an informal gathering of Antioch College alumni at The Spot, 4437 N. Broadway, Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, Sept. 20 beginning at 9 p.m. (open bar cocktail reception from 10-11 p.m.)  Alumni will gather to show solidarity with the Nonstop Rocks weekend, commiserate and plan for future suppport for Nonstop and the Save Antioch movement.  The Chicago Chapter is planning a major fundraising event for late autumn, details TBA.

Central Virginia Chapter 3:00 pm Saturday September 20, 2008

Meeting with Special Guest Gary Houseknecht ’66, member of the Antioch College Alumni Board Plus showing of a DVD recounting the events of the past year produced by the Alumni Association and NonStop in Yellow Springs.  RSVP Howard Singerman.

Boston Chapter will be holding 3 separate “events” this fall.

1.  Our Cape and the Islands Chapter sub-Chapter is holding an event this next Saturday, September 13 from 1-4 PM on Martha’s Vineyard.  Zee Gamson and I will be giving updates on the work of the CRF and the NonStop Liberal Arts Institute.

2.  On the Nonstop Fundraising Weekend we Michael Brower will be leading a telephone tree fundraising effort.

3.  On Saturday, November 15 a full scale symposium at Harvard University on the future of Liberal Arts Education in the US in general and for Antioch specifically.  Under the leadership of Roy Crystal, we will have some prominent national speakers, and a series of panels and discussion groups.

The Minnesota, DC, Austin, Philadelphia, and Dayton alumni chapters are planning events for October, so stay tuned for details.

Fundraising Update

As of today, the Alumni Association has raised nearly $18 million in gifts and pledges from hundreds of donors eager to secure the future of Antioch College.

The elected Antioch College Alumni Association Board of Directors continue to negotiate with the University Board of Trustees to establish an autonomous Board of Trustees for Antioch College, and to protection of assets of Antioch College for sole use of Antioch College.
