Carl Donn Rawlings (June 24, 1937 – June 23, 2023) died peacefully in Prescott, Arizona, the day before his 86th birthday.

Born in Libby, Montana, Donn earned his bachelor’s degree in English at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and his doctorate from the University of Washington.

He arrived in Prescott in 1985 to join Yavapai College’s English Department. He became chair of the College’s Communication Division, developing a love of both interdisciplinary studies and the Grand Canyon. He taught a wide variety of English courses, Connections (Liberal Studies Core) classes, and Western Civilization classes. He retired in 2001 and was given Emeritus Faculty status.

After retirement, Donn discovered his passion for printmaking, beginning with collagraphs before exploring woodcuts, linocuts, and etchings. His enthusiasm led him to workshops in San Francisco with master printers.

The Donn Rawlings Memorial Print Exhibition was held at YC’s Prescott Campus Gallery in October-November 2024 to honor his legacy.
