Emily B. Kirby, Ph.D., was born on April 16, 1929 in New York, New York to Paul and Aimee Baruch (Mayer). She passed away at her home of 56 years in Riverwoods, Illinois on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Emily attended Antioch College in Ohio, and graduated from New York University, later earning her Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
She was an educator, an administrator, a world traveler, a philanthropist, an author, an investor, a talented knitter, baker, cook, gardener, antique collector, and a captivating conversationalist who loved sharing her varied experiences with everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank E. Kirby. Survivors include her four children: Russell (Elizabeth), Nicholas (Marlene), Paula Olsen (Douglas), and Nathaniel, as well as eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
