Helen Louise Vander Hamm (October 22, 1926 – December 23, 2024) passed away at age 98 at Lone Tree Health Care Center in Lone Tree, Iowa.
Helen attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where her studies focused on textile design and marketing. During her time there, she completed an internship at Carson, Pirie, Scott Department Store in downtown Chicago. After one year at Antioch, she transferred to Iowa State University, graduating in spring 1949 with a major in clothing and textiles.
She married Lowell Vander Hamm on September 24, 1949, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death in 2014. Helen was a homemaker and also worked in the fabric department at Ben Franklin store in Fairfield. She was active in First Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by three children, two grandchildren, and multiple step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
