Helen McReynolds Rubart, born February 18, 1945, passed away May 28, 2025, in Bedford.
Helen was described as “a hippy. A flower child of love. A rolling stone with a huge and infectious smile.” She maintained deep friendships across the country from her time at Antioch College, through her work at the Social Security Administration, and beyond.
Helen earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State College and had a career spanning Pennsylvania, the Virgin Islands, and New Hampshire. She was a devoted Sweet Adelines vocalist and performed as a bass voice for many years in Central Florida.
Her passions included traveling by car, motorcycle, and motorhome with her late husband David Ralph Rubart (1938-2010), photography, crossword puzzles, crochet, and her Jack Russell terriers.
Survivors include her daughter Gwen Kanteres, multiple grandchildren, her sister Lil, and her Norwegian Forest cat Kevin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to PBS in Helen’s honor.
